GIVING

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we recognize that we have been blessed with our selves, our time, and our possessions.  We are blessed with a generous God, and in response, we are a giving people. We joyfully give of our time and talents for the greater good of the community.  We joyfully give of our possessions in worship during the offering. As each person’s offering is gathered with others it is multiplied and is used by God in spreading the Gospel.

At Peace Lutheran Church we teach tithing as the model of giving. This means that the first ten percent of our income is offered to God.  We teach tithing because “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that all who believe in Him would have eternal life.” (John 3.16) Tithing helps us to remember:

God has created our world.

God is first in our lives.

Our offering of time, talent and treasure makes a difference in the world.

Our offering of time, talent and treasure makes a difference in the
    attitudes in the heart of the giver.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)

We are a thankful congregation for all that people share of their time, talent and treasure.

All financial gifts to the church are recorded by the Financial Secretary who maintains the confidential records of giving.
